EMR/EHR:  What is it?

EHR stands for Electronic Health Records and EMR stands for Electronic Medical Records, both terms are synonymous and used interchangeably depending with whom you speak.

The government is striving to make a more streamlined medical infrastructure.  Last year a stimulus package was presented and finally approved.  The package details rebates to those physicians who provide services to medicare/medicaid patients.

This section of the website contains useful information on becoming EMR/EHR certified.  There are definitely benefits to becoming electronic; you can get an overall picture of health better with all records at once.  However, the negative is the loss of human interaction.  Now when you go to the doctor you are talking to a laptop and feel even less appreciated; so, in designing the website we tried to come up with creative ideas to keep the human interaction the same as without EHR.
